After an incredible 14 years at Wessex Fleet, the time came last week for bittersweet goodbyes as staff wished Debbie Chinn well in her move to a new role.

The business has grown dramatically since Debbie first started at Wessex Fleet in 2012 as the sole Accounts Assistant working alongside Director Tim McNally.

“Back then, there were only a couple of employees in each department, and the business was just a fraction of the size it is now,” said Debbie, recalling how a handful of staff grew into the 83-strong team Wessex Fleet is today. “I’ve had some brilliant times and worked with some really lovely people, but it’s time for a fresh challenge.”

Debbie recalled the earlier days of the business when it operated from a smaller office in Harnham: “The office looked a bit like an old-fashioned front room, and it was here I first realised that Tim’s dad jokes would be a regular feature of my time at Wessex,” she laughed.

Tim agreed, recalling, “I’ve unleashed a fair few pranks over the years. I once phoned Debbie in the office pretending to be an annoyed customer, calling myself all of the names under the sun to see if Debbie would twig… it didn’t take her long!

“I’ll miss her infectious laugh. She’s been a hard-working, loyal member of the team and great fun to be around.”

Wessex Fleet wishes Debbie every success in her new role. To mark her leaving, the rest of the accounts team wore t-shirts with ‘There is only 1 Debbers!!!’ emblazoned across them, and will be enjoying farewell drinks with her this Friday.
