Wessex Fleet Updates
Fuel price uncertainty driven by global geopolitical tensions, has meant fleet operators face thin margins. At Wessex Fleet, our strategy focused on a single goal this quarter: maximising fleet utilisation through resource efficiency.
Driving growth despite challenges
Despite tricky headwinds, our resilient commercial strategy has driven strong growth, highlighted by securing several key new business wins and contract renewals this quarter:
St Andrews Parish Council: A successful retender for vehicle supply, encompassing comprehensive maintenance, contract hire, and rental solutions.
Aledio Ltd: A contract for over 20 vehicles, delivering an end-to-end package of contract hire, maintenance, full fleet management, and rental.
TCI: New business for contract hire and full fleet management services.
Complete Access Specialist Ltd: A high-volume rental agreement for this industry leader.
Frontline Bathrooms Ltd: A strategic new rental partnership to support fleet needs.
First Choice Gourmet Foods Ltd: A rental-only account to aid logistics operations.
2M Property Services: To provide flexible fleet support through rental solutions.
Unifying leadership and structuring for growth
To give our clients a seamless experience, we’ve restructured our aftersales operations into one straight-forward area.
- Kayleigh Potter has been appointed Head of Fleet Operations. After a decade transforming our rental division into a £5 million-a-year core revenue driver, Kayleigh now oversees rental, maintenance, and fleet support together. This creates absolute continuity of service.
- Sam Guyah joined the team as a National Account Manager. Bringing deep industry experience from Lightfoot, Enterprise and ATS, Sam adds valuable resource to our team, ensuring our largest corporate accounts receive dedicated, focused support.
Smart tech updates to cut costs and VOR time
Building on the successful rollout of our new End of Month (EOM) dashboards in Q1, we introduced a key update to our online service booking module this quarter.
Drivers no longer choose their own franchise garages. Instead, the driver selects the preferred date and time, and the fleet client selects the workshop. For vehicles with over 50,000 miles, this allows seamless routing to high-quality independent garages rather than main dealerships. Independent garages significantly reduce Vehicle Off-Road (VOR) times and costs without affecting the vehicle’s residual value, keeping your fleet working harder.
Cementing strategic partnerships
Q2 was a busy quarter for strengthening collaborations and client relationships, securing better vehicle pipelines:
- We hosted a procurement day on 2nd July for our partners from Alphabet, Novuna, Leasys, Arval, Stellantis, Snows & Yeomans. We set off from Lymington and headed off to The Hut on the Isle of Wight in the glorious sunshine where we had productive conversations, as well as a lovely bite to eat.
- We consolidated our strong partnership with URG, leveraging their network of 570 independent hire companies to secure flexible fleet and rental assets at highly competitive rates.
- We expanded our services with French aerospace giant Safran, working to onboard more of their eight UK divisions. We also progressed a major group agreement with 8 Group and established new higher-education ties with St Helens University following a successful conference at the University of Liverpool.
In a high-inflation market, success relies on agile logistics and smart technology. Wessex Fleet remains committed to shaving off unnecessary costs and keeping your business moving.
