Wessex Fleet Updates
Wessex Fleet has ranked 50th in the 2026 Fleet News FN50, entering the UK’s top leasing companies list for the very first time!
As one of the country’s longest-standing fleet management companies with original co-founders still at the helm, we surpassed some of our larger rivals in securing an FN50 position through our commitment to offering own-funded assets.
Our entry into the rankings is backed by an expanding own-book risk fleet of 650 vehicles, which sits within a total managed and brokered portfolio of over 20,000 vehicles nationwide. This own-book funding capacity provides customers with unique advantages that pure brokerage models can’t match, offering enhanced flexibility alongside direct control over underwriting decisions.
The Fleet News FN50 rankings for 2026 were announced at an awards dinner Wessex Fleet attended in London this week, on 3rd November. We operate exclusive tier-1 funder partnerships with the most elite vehicle funders in the UK, including Arval, Lex Autolease, Alphabet and Ayvens, but only now do we have the pleasure of sitting on the same FN50 list.
Simon Naylor, Director, said: “We’re delighted to be recognised for the first time in the Fleet News FN50 rankings. It shows we’ve established ourselves as one of the UK’s leading leasing companies, despite our core business operations being as a third-party broker. It reflects the continued faith in our abilities from our many customers, alongside the rapid internal expansion of our team, which has grown almost threefold in as many years. We wouldn’t be here without their dedication, tirelessly delivering the high levels of service customers deserve.”
Of Wessex Fleet’s hybrid funding model, Simon said: “Having our own-book vehicles on-hand works brilliantly for those who might not fit strict lender criteria or who need really tailored terms, but you usually find third-party lenders offer the most aggressive corporate bank pricing. Having both in our back pocket means plenty of options for our customers.”
Leasing decisions sit alongside wider cost pressures fleets are already managing, from recent Autumn Budget tax updates through to shifting electric vehicle (EV) mandate targets. An industry rank such as the FN50 gives an insight into the level of support and adaptability a business receives when navigating cost.
Delivering everything from personal leasing and salary sacrifice schemes to comprehensive fleet management and minibus hire, Wessex Fleet is approved on pre-vetted public sector and education frameworks, including the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) and the Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC), having passed the UK’s most rigorous independent procurement and financial audits.
